Congregational Singing Added; Updated COVID Policies
See our most recent COVID Guidance here
We will be adding congregational singing to our Order of Worship beginning on the First Sunday of Advent (November 28).
Mindful of the ongoing challenges and concerns surrounding the COVID19 pandemic, here are some particularities of that arrangement in our early stages:
Per current mandates, masks are required for all while we are together indoors. If you do not have a mask, we will have one available for you.
We will continue to keep our masking and mitigation policies updated in accordance with (1) the needs of the most vulnerable among us, (2) the policies of our hosting congregation, and (3) the guidance of health officials.
As often as possible, courtyard doors are opened to increase airflow.
Communion is being offered by intinction. Come forward and receive the bread, and then dip the Host into the consecrated Wine.
Mindful that COVID risks are mitigated by shorter exposure, and the to aid the intergenerational character of our worship, we are trying to keep our service short (less than 1hr).
The library off of the worship space is available as a kids space and cryroom, and there is ample children’s space on the second floor, above the worship space. Children are welcome to explore the play areas, provided they are supervised by their parent/guardian, and ensure that the areas are put back in order the way they were found. We generally have 20 minutes of unstructured playtime for the kids after the service.
In the future, we are looking forward to:
Providing regular childcare. Currently, the emphasis is on intergenerational worship, and childcare is “self-serve.” With one or two more families, it will make sense for us to have regular childcare during the service.
Establishing joint children’s programming with our host congregation, First Baptist, as well as exploring other ways that we can grow in cooperation and mutual ministry together with FBC and the other congregations and organizations that share the space.
We remain prayerful and hopeful that our Lord will through this labor of devotion and prayer work marvelous things: through his Gospel, proclaimed in Word and Sacrament, he will establish this little mission at the heart of our city, and open great rest and abundance in our lives and the lives of those around us as we steward that which we have been entrusted to the glory of his name, the upbuilding of his Church, and the good of our community.
