The Surfeit of Blessing

The Harvest is Plentiful.
— Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Matt 9:37)

Colorado-based artist Liz Miller seeks to communicate the peace and joy of her faith through colorful acrylic paintings, principally of flowers and landscapes. This pleasant scene is entitled, “Plentiful.” Depicted is a Mediterranean landscape, in a relief of almost comic, impressionistic realism: fields surrounding burst with purple, red, orange, yellow, and green.

I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.

— Isaiah 49:6

Texts for this Week

Prayer

Almighty God, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Aaron’s Blessing

The Aaronic Blessing (Num 6:24-26) has been spoken over the people of God by their priests for thousands upon thousands of years. For the last 3 years, the Aaronic Blessing has been popularized and memeified via Kari Jobe / Elevation Worship’s setting in “The Blessing.” First performed early in the outbreak of COVID19, the song quickly became a favorite among virtual choirs the world over. This version brings together 67 people from 16 different Arab nations.
